A Brief History
Most of the village was originally underwater in Biscayne Bay before development began. The area's only dry land was a five-acre island called Broadcast Key, which hosted the pioneer radio station WIOD. The city was officially incorporated on August 1, 1945. It has since evolved into a residential community connected by the islands of Harbor, North Bay, and Treasure.
